Ralph Vaughan Williams published songs from his operas separately, to make the operas better known - they were sung at home and in the concert hall, but are rarely heard today. The first CD issued by Albion Records, The Sky Shall Be Our Roof is comprised of 19 songs from Ralph Vaughan Williams operas. An astonishing 12 of these songs are world premiere recordings, and all are deeply characteristic, noble, and beautiful.
